How Does the New AI Regulation Impact Your Use of AI at Woba.io?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving rapidly, and with the new AI regulation from the EU, it is now more important than ever for companies to ensure responsible and transparent use of AI technology.

At Woba.io, we use AI to deliver intelligent summaries and recommendations through our closed API integration with OpenAI. But what does the new AI regulation mean for us – and you as a customer? In this blog post, we take a closer look.

The AI Regulation: Key Points

In 2023, the EU’s AI regulation was adopted as the world’s first comprehensive legislation on artificial intelligence. The regulation takes a risk-based approach, meaning that the rules are based on the level of risk an AI system poses to fundamental rights and safety.

The regulation categorizes AI systems into four risk levels:

💠 Minimal or No Risk – AI that does not require regulation (e.g., autocorrect, recommendation algorithms in streaming services).

💠 Limited Risk (effective from August 2, 2026) – AI systems that must comply with transparency requirements (e.g., chatbots and AI-generated content, which must be clearly labeled as AI-generated).

💠 High Risk (effective from August 2, 2026/2027) – AI that impacts critical areas such as healthcare, employment, and education, requiring extensive documentation and risk management.

💠 Prohibited AI Systems (effective from February 2, 2025) – AI that is considered a threat to citizens’ rights (e.g., mass surveillance and AI-based social scoring).

How Does Woba.io Use AI, and What Does It Mean for You?

At Woba.io, we use AI to summarize data and provide recommendations, helping our customers gain the best insights into their employee data. AI helps identify trends and suggest actions, but it does not replace human judgment – it is a tool, not a decision-maker.

That’s why Woba.io also offers a dedicated Customer Success Manager and the option for Deep Dive analyses. This provides our customers with in-depth insights into trends and recommendations needed to predict and prevent talent loss.

Our AI solution falls under the “limited risk” category, meaning we must comply with specific transparency requirements.

This means that we:

✅  Clearly indicate when AI has generated a summary or recommendation.

✅ Ensure that human judgment is always involved in decision-making.

✅ Protect your data in accordance with GDPR and the AI regulation.

Woba.io Goes a Step Further:

✅ Anonymizes all personally identifiable information before transferring data to OpenAI.

Uses a closed API for OpenAI.

Ensures that OpenAI does not use this data to train future models.

The Future of AI at Woba.io

The AI regulation is a significant milestone that helps establish clear rules for the use of artificial intelligence. At Woba.io, we see regulation as an opportunity to strengthen trust in AI, enabling us to continue developing innovative solutions for our customers.
